Xerox error 091-921
The printer cannot confirm the black drum cartridge (position R1) is seated correctly.
Seen on: VersaLink C8000, C8000W and C9000. The same code can mean something else on other models.
How to fix it
- Open the front door and remove the waste toner unit.
- Turn the R1 drum lever right, press the release button and slide the drum out. Keep it out of light for no more than 5 minutes.
- Push it back in until it clicks and turn the lever back left.
- Clean the LED lens with the cleaning rod inside the front door: push it in and out three times.
- Refit the waste toner unit, close the door, and restart the printer. If the message stays, replace the drum.
Is it worth fixing?
Reseating fixes most cases. If not, the drum cartridge is a standard user-replaceable part.
