Xerox error 071-101

A paper jam at Tray 1.

Seen on: VersaLink C400 and C405. The same code can mean something else on other models.

How to fix it

1. Take any paper out of the bypass tray, then pull out Tray 1 and the bypass tray.
2. Remove the jammed sheet and any crumpled paper. Also check Tray 2 (if fitted), the fuser area and the document feeder.
3. Push the trays back in fully and confirm the paper settings if the printer asks.
4. If it jams again, turn the printer off with the Power button, wait for it to shut down, and turn it on. Do not pull the power cord while it is on.
5. Repeated jams from the same tray usually mean the feed roller is worn: it is a user-replaceable part on this model.

Is it worth fixing?

Fixable on site. A new feed roller is cheap and takes minutes.
