HP error Printhead missing or failed
The printer cannot detect the print head, or the print head has failed.
How to fix it
- Turn the printer off and on.
- Open the cartridge door, lift the print head latch, take the print head out and put it back, then close the latch firmly.
- Check the contacts on the print head and in the carriage for dried ink; clean gently with a lint-free cloth and distilled water, then let it dry.
- Turn the printer on.
Is it worth fixing?
If it persists, the print head has failed. Out of warranty, a new head often costs close to a new printer.
