Canon error 1401
The printer cannot detect the print head, or the print head is faulty.
How to fix it
- Turn the printer off and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and the print head.
- Wipe the print head contacts and the carriage contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the print head, lock the lever firmly, put the cartridges back and turn the printer on.
Is it worth fixing?
If cleaning the contacts does not help, the print head needs replacing. On older printers that is rarely worth it.
